Sabre and China Eastern just celebrated a signing ceremony that will be powering the next generation operations control system of the airline. The event took place during the Sabre Technology Exchange (STX) conference today at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

With the new partnership, Sabre will drive the airline’s transition towards becoming a connected China Eastern Airlines transition by supporting their commercial and operational objectives.

China Eastern Airlines selected Sabre’s innovative AirCentre suite as the core system to power their next generation Airline Operation Centre – developed to organize and manage flights, ensure constant flight monitoring operations and to help control safety risks. With this broad technology partnership, Sabre will drive China Eastern’s transition to become a connected airline by supporting their commercial and operational objectives.

Sabre’s powerful AirCentre flight operations solutions will ensure schedule continuity from the planning stage to day-of operations, minimizing the impact of disruptions to both airline operations and travellers. By leveraging Sabre technology, China Eastern will have the ability to optimize flight plans, deliver accurate flight monitoring capabilities, reduce the workload of dispatchers, and increase productivity. China Eastern will use Sabre’s innovative flight movement management system to enable fast decision making and facilitate operation recovery, which will directly contribute to improved operation safety and efficiency of the carrier.

“Our unique market expertise will drive the implementation of China Eastern’s next-generation Airline Operations Centre,” said Dave Shirk, EVP  and President of Sabre Travel Solutions. “With access to our innovative technology and Sabre’s commitment to the China market, the airline will be well equipped to address the highly competitive environment and meet its corporate growth objectives.”

On the other hand, China Eastern Airlines Senior Vice President Jiang Jiang declared, “China Eastern has very clear strategic objectives, and the terms ‘international’ and ‘connected’ are the driving forces behind our strategy. Recently, China Eastern has cooperated with many world-class aviation partners in the areas of mobile, internet, cloud computing, and big data. Under the theme, ‘Intelligence China Eastern’, we are transforming and enhancing our business model to support our great leap forward.”
