Land where China began
Henan is regarded as the cradle of China’s civilization. It has a site where the remains of the Yangshao Culture, dating back to the Neolithic Age, can be found. The 7,000-year old Peiligang culture site and 5,000-year-old Yangshao and Longshan cultures in Dahe Village in Zhengzhou form parts of the evidence that proves Henan was the political, cultural, and economic center of China in ancient China.
Historical cities are Luoyang City, the capital of nine dynasties since the Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Kaifeng is also one of the ancient capitals, where the ruins of the Shang Dynasty, also known as the Yin ruins can be viewed.
Having these rich history makes for Henan’s diverse tourism attractions, including some that are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites, that Filipinos will find interesting such as The Shaolin (where Shaoilin Gongfu martial arts originated) and the Zhongyue temples at Songshan mountain, the ruins of the Yin dynasty in Anyang, the 1,000-year-old Iron Pagoda in Kaifeng, and the Song of Dynasty Tomb in Gongxian County.
A tourism exchange
China has influenced some of the Philippines culture and heritage and it is just advantageous to visit the “Land where China began”. With the friendship of China President Xi Jinping and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, the growth of tourism exchange between the two countries through constant promotions should be encouraged.
