Mirador torre Glòries is the new cultural and entertainment landmark, offering a unique perspective to admire Barcelona. Since May 2022, it has welcomed over 100,000 visitors worldwide, captivating them with its extraordinary 360° views from a height of 125 meters. Yet, the Mirador boasts more than just breathtaking vistas. Alongside providing exclusive city views, it revolutionizes the traditional viewing platform concept by hosting Cloud Cities Barcelona, the only permanent, multi-sensory walk-in art installation by Argentinian contemporary artist Tomás Saraceno in southern Europe.
The space was designed as a dual vantage point, offering a unique experience to rediscover Barcelona from two distinct perspectives: either from the 30th floor or the first basement floor.
Visitors embark on a journey that commences with a visit to Hyperview Barcelona, an observation platform without actual windows. Through real-time data, art, science, and technology, they unveil the often unnoticed aspects of Barcelona. Five installations make up the Hyperview Barcelona observation platform: Prologue (a non-linear narrative that connects visitors with the different frequencies of the city), Barcelonians (formed by folded-paper sculptures, it highlights other species that inhabit Barcelona), Atmospheres (immersive projection on a large-format screen measuring 108m2), Rhythms (a large holographic screen, the space shows Barcelona’s many metabolic processes), and Sirena (the music that accompanies the entire visit).
Following this, visitors ascend to the 360° Observation Deck on the 30th floor, providing panoramic views of almost every corner of the city. Visitors can observe the city’s two main mountains; its coastline from the Sant Andreu power plant to the hotel W Barcelona; its distinguished neighbour Sagrada Família; the most modern part of the city, 22@ which represents 21st-century Barcelona; and the intersection of three main thoroughfares of Barcelona — Avinguda Diagonal, Avinguda Meridiana and Gran Via.
As the culmination of their experience, within the same space just a few meters above, visitors can contemplate the art installation Cloud Cities Barcelona. Here, they can climb through it, experiencing a sensation of suspension akin to being in a cloud. This unique perspective invites reflection on the future of cities, particularly from an environmental standpoint.
From the envisioned epicenter of Ildefons Cerdà’s urban plan, nestled in the heart of Barcelona’s technology district (22@), Torre Glòries stands as a symbol of architectural prowess. Owned by MERLIN Properties and designed by renowned architects Jean Nouvel and Fermín Vázquez, this tower, conceived as a geyser rising from the ground.
Mirador Torre Glòries, situated within the iconic structure of 21st-century Barcelona, offers a holistic experience that unveils unseen facets of the city. This prime location is not only ideal for city explorers but also for those seeking a distinctive venue for corporate events.. Plaça de les Glòries has evolved into Barcelona’s secondary city center, serving as the gateway to the 22@ business and tech district. It also has excellent public transport connections and many facilities, shops and restaurants.
It encourages visitors to move beyond passive contemplation, providing a multifaceted perspective that fosters environmental awareness and responsibility towards Barcelona’s urban ecosystem
