At an event held in Manila on February 12, 2025, Bernard Vijaykumar, Head of North Asia & Philippines at VFS Global said, “We strongly encourage all travelers to apply for their visas well in advance of their intended travel dates. Waiting until the last moment not only increases the risk of delays but also exposes applicants to fraudulent entities seeking to exploit their urgency.”
He also emphasized the importance of conducting proper due diligence before making any payments related to visa applications.
To mitigate the risk of fraud, VFS Global provided a quick guide for visa applicants including applying early at least 90 days before the date of travel, while 6 months applying for Schengen visa. Visa appointments are free of charge and can only be booked only through their official website, www.vfsglobal.com. The organization also clarified that they have no role or influence on the decision of visa applications, and do not work with any third-party entities. In addition, VFS Global does not engage in job placement or immigration-related services.
VFS Global also highlighted common mistakes made by visa applicants, such as information mismatches, incorrect photo formats, incomplete documentation, and unauthenticated bank statements. They urged applicants to carefully review the requirements specific to the country they are applying for.
