Davao Region will stage a series of events in April and May that aim to position the region as a summer destination.
On Friday, the Department of Tourism, Davao City, and the private sector introduced the second Davao city-wide sale at the Travel and Tour Expo 2015. With more tourism, hospitality, and retail players participating this year, the Visit Davao Fun Sale 2015 will run from April 3 to May 17 and offer city and adventure tours, discount packages on accommodation facilities, and product discounts in malls and restaurants.
A total of 750 rooms from hotels and accommodation facilities are available per weekend for the sale. Meanwhile, 10 malls and 106 restaurants will offer special discounts within the six-week period.
The region is also preparing for the next International Mount Apo Boulder Face Challenge 2015, set on April 25-26 in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur.
Covering a total distance of 120 kilometers that racers need to finish within 24 hours at most, the competition is considered one of the most extreme and longest adventure races in the Philippines. Racers have to complete 47.8 kilometers of biking, 53.5 kilometers of trekking, 5 kilometers of water tubing, and 13.7 kilometers of road running.
Simultaneous with the race will be an annual clean up climb to Mt. Apo conducted by 150 mountaineers.
