MANILA, Philippines — Visa application volumes from the Philippines rose by around 8% year on year in 2025, reflecting sustained outbound travel demand and renewed confidence among Filipino travellers, according to data from VFS Global, the global provider of visa services to foreign governments.
As international travel continues to recover, VFS Global is advising travellers to plan visa applications well in advance, warning that higher demand and limited appointment slots during peak travel periods could lead to delays.
Popular destinations among Filipino travellers last year included Australia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, based on visa application data.
“This healthy rise in visa applications from the Philippines indicates that travellers’ confidence has been restored and people are exploring global destinations again,” said Atul Lall, Regional Head – North Asia, VFS Global. “We urge applicants planning overseas travel to apply for their visas early to avoid the last-minute rush, especially during peak seasons.”
Alongside rising application volumes, demand for convenience-led visa services has grown sharply. Visa At Your Doorstep (VAYD)—which allows applicants to complete the visa submission process from their home or preferred location—recorded a 62% year-on-year increase in demand in 2025, highlighting a growing preference for personalised services.
VFS Global currently offers doorstep visa services in the Philippines for 18 countries, including Australia, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, the UK, and several Schengen destinations. The company also operates Mobile Visa Application Centres (MVACs), expanding access for applicants outside major urban areas.
Other optional services, such as Premium Lounge, which provides personalised assistance in a dedicated lounge setting, and Prime Time, which allows applications outside regular working hours, have also seen increased uptake since the pandemic. VFS Global clarified that these premium services are optional and do not influence processing times or visa decisions.
With peak travel season approaching, VFS Global recommends that travellers apply for visas as early as flight and accommodation bookings are confirmed, noting that many countries accept applications up to six months (180 days) before the intended travel date.
The company also reminded applicants to remain vigilant against fraudulent entities offering paid appointment bookings. VFS Global does not charge fees for appointment scheduling through its official website, and travellers are encouraged to transact only through authorised channels.
VFS Global currently serves 33 foreign governments in the Philippines namely Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Gambia, Germany, Greece (represents Portugal), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Lithuania, Malta, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway (represents Iceland), Oman (Attestation Services), Qatar, Slovenia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Türkiye, UAE (Dubai visa and Attestation Services), UK, and Ukraine—through a network of 61 visa application centers across eight cities, including Makati, Pasay, Parañaque, Quezon, City Taguig, Cebu, Davao, and Batangas.
