Luzon International Premiere Airport Development (LIPAD) Corporation, the operator of Clark International Airport, sees Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ decision to establish a new base maintenance facility at Clark International Airport as further strengthening Clark’s position as a growing aviation and aerospace hub in the Philippines.

The new base maintenance facility was announced during the state visit of German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Philippines. It will complement Lufthansa Technik Philippines’ existing operations in Manila and expand the company’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities in the Asia-Pacific region.

Following the announcement, LIPAD President and CEO Noel F. Manankil welcomed Lufthansa Technik CEO Soeren Stark, Chief Human Resources Officer Dr. Janna Schumacher, and Lufthansa Technik Philippines President and CEO Holger Beck to Clark International Airport. The delegation visited the airport and inspected the site identified for the company’s future base maintenance facility, which is expected to begin operations in 2028.

Lufthansa Technik Philippines, a joint venture between Lufthansa Technik and MacroAsia Corporation, will develop the facility on a 157,000-square-meter site at Clark International Airport. Designed to accommodate up to nine widebody aircraft bays, the facility is expected to begin operations in 2028.

“This investment by Lufthansa Technik reflects the confidence global aviation leaders have in Clark International Airport and in the opportunities available in Central Luzon,” said Manankil. “The airport was designed to support growth, and developments such as this demonstrate Clark’s ability to accommodate world-class aviation operations. We are proud to support investments that create high-value jobs, encourage technology transfer, and contribute to the continued development of the Philippine aviation industry.”

The facility will become Lufthansa Technik’s second location in the Philippines, complementing its long-standing operations at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. Together, the two sites will strengthen the company’s ability to serve airline customers across Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East.

As Lufthansa Technik’s competence center for widebody aircraft maintenance within its global network, Lufthansa Technik Philippines currently specializes in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of Airbus A330, A340, A350, and A380 aircraft, as well as Boeing 777 aircraft. The Clark facility will also add support for the Boeing 787, further expanding the company’s service portfolio.
