The Philippine Travel Tax is now integrated within the eGov Super App and eTravel Information System.

A significant leap in the digital transformation of public services took place yesterday, July 24, at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, as the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to integrate the Philippine Travel Tax system into the government’s eGov PH Super App — a unified platform that brings together various public services — and the eTravel platform, which consolidates data collection for passengers arriving in and departing from the country.”

This collaboration, in partnership with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) is a seamless and user-friendly travel tax experience for Filipino travelers, reducing queues, paperwork, and confusion at airports.

Shared vision

In his welcome remarks, TIEZA Chief Operating Officer Mark Lapid emphasized the spirit of collaboration behind the initiative.

“Today is not just about signing a memorandum—it’s about reinforcing a shared vision for a seamless, secure, and citizen-centered public service,” Lapid said.

Through this integration, travelers can now declare travel tax payments, confirm exemptions, and access a unique QR code for airport processing—all within the eGov Super App. Refunds for discounted categories such as students, OFWs, and dependents are also made more accessible.

Lapid extended gratitude to DICT Secretary Henry Aguda, Undersecretaries Faye Condez-De Sagon and David Almirol, as well as ARTA Secretary Ernesto Perez and Usec. Gerald Divinagracia for their steadfast support. He also acknowledged the Department of Tourism under Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, for providing strategic direction and digital empowerment in the tourism sector.

“This milestone reminds us that digital transformation is not just a goal—it’s a responsibility,” Lapid added.

Homegrown solution

ARTA Secretary Ernesto Perez echoed the sentiment, highlighting the real-world impact of this innovation on the lives of Filipino travelers.

“Every Filipino traveler has a story—some travel for work, others for education, family, or urgent matters. Across these stories is a common hope: that the journey is smooth, the process clear, and government support is felt,” Perez said.

He shared that ARTA has received recurring complaints about travel tax bottlenecks and confusion at airport counters. With the new system, outbound passengers can now digitally verify whether they paid the tax via airline, are exempt, or paid directly to TIEZA. This information is then consolidated into a QR code to streamline airport verification.

Perez praised DICT’s role in spearheading the platform, calling the eGov PH Super App a “world-class, homegrown solution” and proof that the Philippines can deliver responsive and scalable digital governance.

“This is government in action—not just planning, but execution. Not just digitalization for convenience, but for peace of mind,” Perez noted.

Partnership roles

The MOU outlines clear responsibilities: DICT leads the technical integration, TIEZA manages the Travel Tax system and implementation, and ARTA provides coordination, facilitation, and policy review. The agencies commit to continuous monitoring, improvement, and expansion of the system.

“We are simplifying travel not just for convenience, but so that people can focus on what truly matters—reuniting with loved ones, pursuing dreams, or fulfilling national missions,” Perez said.

The integration is already live and accessible through the eGov PH Super App and eTravel portal, marking a new era of citizen-first digital services in the Philippines.

Steps to a seamless process

To pay the travel tax, open the eGov PH Super App, go to the NGA section, and search for TIEZA. This will redirect you to TIEZA’s official website.

From there, select TIEZA Travel Tax to proceed with payment. You will be directed to the online payment page, where your personal details—such as name, contact information, and passport number—are already pre-filled, eliminating the need to input them manually. Simply enter your flight details, then pay securely using your preferred credit card or e-wallet.

You will receive an acknowledgment receipt and proof of payment via email.

Return to the eTravel platform and select the option indicating that you have already paid your travel tax. Validation is done automatically and seamlessly via API integration. Once validated, you may generate your QR code for immigration clearance.

Passengers are encouraged to complete their eTravel declaration at least 72 hours before departure. For those applying for travel tax exemptions, it is recommended to apply before the departure date to minimize queuing at the airport.
